Removing bike lanes is a step backwards. Get with the times and increase the bike lanes. Follow other forward looking cities and countries. Widening roads only leads to increased volumes. It does nothing in the long run to improve traffic flow. Read more

Bill 212, as proposed, would have detrimental effects in terms of safety and economic activity. The bike lanes along University are designed for and used by ambulances bringing patients (often in critical condition) to Hospital Row. Read more

I heartily disagree with Bill 212; the *province* should not be involved at all in the removal of *municapl* bike lanes. This is a municipal issue that the Premier should have zero involvement in unless it's to provide funding for more of them. Read more

Dear Ontario government, I live in downtown Toronto, and have done since I moved here in 1977. I own a car, use a bicycle frequently, and also use the TTC. I have worked, paid taxes, shopped, eaten in restaurants, enjoyed the parks, and I love living here. Read more

Bike lanes provide safer, environmentally friendly and healthier ways to commute. One person off a bike may mean another in a car. Consider removing more cars to reduce gridlock. Put a cap on Uber and Lyft drivers clogging up city streets. Read more

Bike lanes reduce congestion and make people safer and healthier. They reduce greenhouse gas emissions and they make cities more beautiful. We need more of them, not fewer. If you start ripping them out, some cyclists will stop riding and take their cars, making the roads more crowded. Read more

Removing these lanes will be incredibly detrimental to the wellbeing of the city of Toronto, for the safety of its residents and the planet by forcing more people to drive. What an absolutely absurd idea.

To the Premier and Minister of Transportation I am against the removal of bikes lanes. Bike lanes are important for safety and community. It would be irresponsible to spend dollars to remove the lanes when we have province wide issues with health care and public transit. Read more

Removing bike lanes endangers lives! There are also many studies that show Bike lanes reduce traffic, create safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists, and increase spending at local businesses. It is cold hearted to remove bike lanes, not to mention foolish and wasteful of tax payer dollars!! Read more

I am a Toronto resident who relies on bike lanes, including the Bloor street bike lane, on a daily basis to commute by bike with my young children to their daycare and then to my workplace to the downtown core. Read more

My first issue with Bill 212 is the exemptions being planned for Highway 413, specifically that it will be exempt from the Environmental Assessment Act. The impact of building this highway and further encouraging driving will have grave effects on the environment. Read more

I am very strongly against bill 212. Bike lines are very important for protecting cyclists and contributing to reducing GHG emissions. Reducing bike lanes will also increase congestion due the need for more buses and streetcars and people driving cars instead of riding bicycles
