Bike lanes are necessary and an important component for the safety of cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists. They help reduce congestion and we need more of them. Tearing up existing bike lanes is also a waste of taxpayer money.

Removing and making it administratively more difficult to add bike lanes is not the way to reduce gridlock. Adding more traffic lanes only makes traffic worse as it disincetivizes people who could use alternative means of transport. Read more

Safe bike lanes are extremely important especially with traffic density and intolerance. I urge you to keep the lanes that already exist and look for new ways to reduce gridlock including speed cameras, advance green lights, and fixing the gardiner and lakeshore exits on the east end.

I am writing to voice my opposition to proposed Bill 212. I feel Bill 212 is based on misguided ideology, not empirical evidence. As we hurtle towards climate disaster, we need more policies that encourage clean ways of commuting. This proposed bill, will discourage cycling and increase gridlock. Read more

I am firmly opposed to the proposed legislation and it is a complete waste of time for the government to even be considering this Bill when there are real problems Ontarians are facing, such as lack of access to health care and chronic underfunding of public transit. Read more

Why remove well used and by most metrics well liked and implemented bike lanes? Millions of dollars of work just destroyed. That is what Doug wants? Also highway 413 is NOT needed, and is just a gift to his developer buddies. Disgusting!

Hello, I am in favour of bike lanes. I prefer to bike when there is a good network of protected bike lanes. Please, at a minimum, allow municipalities to have control of their own roadways in this decision.

I’m writing today to say that I oppose bill 212. I disagree with removing sections of existing bike lanes on Bloor, Yonge and University Ave. This is a costly endeavour and I don’t believe that this will help with gridlock. I live near the bike lanes along Bloor. Read more

Why is the provincial government trying to overstep into city planning? It seems the local people in the municipality elected a city council and already employed expert city planners to decide how to best make the city for the people who live there. Read more

Bill 212 is a misguided and shortsighted attempt to address traffic congestion in Ontario. Moreover, it reeks of government overreach, partisan maneuvering, and a fundamental disregard for evidence-based policies that prioritize safety, sustainability, and public well-being. Read more

I'm writing to share my massive concerns about the idea of reducing bike lanes in Toronto. I really believe that taking a step back on bike infrastructure would be a huge mistake for our city, the environment, and the economy. Read more

I fundamentally disagree with the province meddling with this city affair. The city has performed the appropriate analysis to implement bike lanes and the province has not even done their own analysis to justify removing them. This would be a huge waste of taxpayer money. Read more

Rob Ford already did this and it created more problems. Toronto’s traffic is not because of bike lanes it’s because of bad planning 40-50 years ago. We need better transit options besides cars not forcing more cars on the road.
