I am worried about the changes to the Endangered Species Act, and have concerns about the new Species Conservation Act. It is essentially a gutting of wildlife and environmental protections in the province, which is not beneficial in the long run for anyone.

As a lifelong resident of Ontario, Canada, I strongly opposes the proposed Bill 5, Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025. If approved, this legislation would reduce protection for species at risk, increase the loss of habitat for imperiled species, and hamper their recovery.

This change will harm our natural environment at marginal benefit to industries that would be better supported in other ways. Additionally, it will threaten the environmental consulting and engineering industry in Ontario.
I am very concerned about the lack of due diligence that will result from the passing of Bill 5. I understand the need to boost our economy in the face of US threats but we MUST still protect our environment, indigenous people and their land and support healthy communities.
