I strongly oppose this change to the endangered species act because it plans to redefine habitat needs for animals. Many animals such as foxes or other predators require a big range or territory, they do not only exist in one small space like an ant colony. Read more

I am deeply troubled by this bill. Not only does it remove decades of species protection in a climate crisis, but it allows the government to bypass the legislature. Our future is only ensured through intentional habitat restoration, not sweeping destruction. Read more

I oppose Bill 5. I’m concerned that this bill as written is too far reaching and has the potential to be abused for the benefit for private interests instead of the public good. Read more

I'm really worried about Bill 5. I'm worried that it will override conscious decisions originally made to protect endangered species, the environment and human rights. Nothing is worth sacrificing these decisions.

Overall, the proposed changes to the ESA and the new Species Conservation Act highlight a lack of transparency on how these proposed changes were decided upon. It puts species conservation unnecessarily indirect conflict with sustainable development. Read more

I do not agree with changes to this act. We are destroying what little progress we have made in the restoration of green spaces in Ontario and will halt all said progress with changes to acts such as this one. No.
