I oppose the amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority into the Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority. It makes a lot more sense to retain local administration. The staff at the LRCA understands the needs of our particular region. Read more

Simply put, this proposal makes no sense and will result in a massive loss of capability for effective management of natural lands and resources. The size of these proposed areas are so large that they become essentially meaningless. Read more

I live in Dundas Ontario. I was part of the Hamilton amalgamation. It gave Dundas nothing. Took away our own identity. Our HCA looks after what is best for us and our community. DO NOT TAKE THAT FROM US!! We all pay our taxes and we elected you! Keep your hands off our land!

The proposed amalgamation of Ontario's conservation authorities will be harmful to the province in innumerable ways and needs to be rejected. Having reviewed the comments submitted by the Hamilton Conservation Authority, I wholly agree with them. Read more

As a resident of Ontario I am very concerned that this will make it harder for our conservation authorities to focus on local issues, and leave us vulnerable to flooding as a result. If you want to really improve the efficiency of Conservation Authorities, just provide them with more resources.

The cost savings cannot justify merging two such large and separate areas. I am tired of this government's clueless and reckless actions around conservation. We need to weigh the losses that come with poor environmental management against reducing debt. Read more

It's the PC Government working for the developers. Less red tape for development, faster approval to build and less about what's right for conservation. The conservation agencies were set up after hurricane Hazel devastated Ontario. Shame on Premier Ford. Read more

I strongly oppose this proposal. The 36 conservation authorities are able to work efficiently because of their smaller catchment areas which allow them to develop strong relationships with local communities and deep knowledge of the lands they conserve. Read more

I am strongly opposed to the proposed merger of the province’s 36 conservation authorities into seven large regional authorities. To me, this change represents the opposite of conservative governing which should instead encourage and support local community control. Read more

Greetings, That province has not provided any evidence that this action would in any way enhance user experience in our local conservation systems. Rather, there are many circumstances in which provincial meddling has lead to inefficiency and and cost the tax payer (CA users) more money. Read more

I am very concerned about many elements of this. I feel that key watershed and development decisions will no longer be made in a way that includes key local perspectives and protections. But my biggest worry is for the impact this will have on natural areas that protect Ontario's biodiversity. Read more

I strongly oppose this consolidation of conservation authorities. It is very important that the conservation authorities be able to address issues affecting local biospheres and ecosystems, and have working relationships with municipal governments. Read more

I urge you to reconsider the amalgamation of the 36 conservation authorities into 7 regional conservation authorities. As someone who has a degree in agriculture and has worked adjacent to conservation authorities for my 40 year career, I believe this amalgamation goes too far too fast. Read more
