The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has received adopted OPA No. 146 from the Town of Whitby for a decision. OPA No. 146 proposes to amend the text and schedules of the Whitby Official Plan to achieve consistency and conformity with provincial policies and plans, and to incorporate policies and mapping from Envision Durham.
We are proposing the removal of approximately 17 hectares of land from Beekahncheekahmeeng Deebahncheekayweehn Eenahohnahnuhn. Removing these lands would support their proposed transfer, together with 321.5 hectares of adjacent Crown land, to Canada as requested by Pikangikum First Nation for addition to their reserve.

This proposal requests a new Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage) for the existing stormwater management facility constructed to support the industrial building expansion completed in 2022.
