The UN just released the latest findings about climate change and this is a step backwards. Cap and trade isn't a money grab or detrimental for business, it is a way to avoid polluting the earth and places boundaries on business.

In responding to the preparation of a climate change plan, Ontario government carries out Bill 4 to wind down the cap and trade program. Cap and trade program are certainly not the only policy that Ontario government can use to reduce GHGs (greenhouse gases) emissions.

Climate change represents a significant risk to Ontario.
To scrap the only plan we have and replace it with nothing is foolishness.
To fly across the country to hold a rally encourage others to likewise put us at risk is questionable.

The passing of Bill 4 will be detrimental to the well-being of the residents of Ontario for generations. Global warming is already causing extreme weather events such as wildfires, flooding and crop damage in Ontario and this will only get worse.

I am firmly opposed to any action that will reduce our province's existing efforts and commitments to reduce climate change. We need to be increasing these efforts in an urgent manner. Please listen and act responsibly.
Thank you for the chance to comment. I would like to share my perspective that dismantling cap and trade - a regime that the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario's recent report showed was working - is not in the best interest of Ontario.

I do not agree with this proposed legislation to eliminate the cap and trade scenario. It is the only way available at this time to mitigate against current exorbitant carbon emissions which are seriously undermining our climate.

I am appalled at the proposed cancellation of the 'cap and trade' framework, which among other things sets a price on carbon, thereby incentivizing more efficient and lower carbon energy use.

The proposal to Cancel the Cap and Trade Act without public consultation is abysmal behaviour on the part of the current government. The fact that the premier feels it critical to campaign in other provinces to push this agenda is also very disturbing.

As a citizen of Ontario and of this planet, I consider the abandoning of the most significant effort to curb GHGs a most regrettable foolhardy shortsighted move and cannot fully comprehend the level of hubris that has led this government to get to this point.

The UN has stated we have twelve years to eliminate a climate change catastrophe. We need to act now. Do not Implement Bill 4. We need to cut back on greenhouse gases.

While Cap & Trade may not be perfect the cost of ignoring climate change is far greater than any damage to our economy that Cap & Trade will do.
