How is it possible that the province of Ontario continues to reject climate science? Climate change is a real threat and as an environmental and economic leader, all of Canada needs to have a plan to do its part and reduce emissions.

This decision is an appalling one for a number of reasons. It goes against everything that a fiscally responsible government should be doing. It is also an abhorrent moral failure on the part of the provincial government to pull out of a plan that is proven to reduce emissions.

Air pollution knows no state borders. The Western Climate Initiative, a trans border cap and trade system that Ontario was formerly a part of, is one of the few good examples of intra governmental collaboration to address this issue.

Doug Ford does not understand or appreciate science. By canceling this act (especially at this time) he is totally disrespecting the the scientists who are warning us about the impacts of climate change.
Carbon pricing is a proven method of reducing emissions that does not have averse effects on the economy. There is no excuse for cancelling it. It is unacceptable for the Ontario government (or any government) to be taking steps away from climate action.

As an Ontario taxpayer and grandmother of three small boys, I am outraged that the current Government of Ontario plans to cancel the Cap and Trade Program, which was designed to contribute to the achievement of Canada’s commitment to the Paris Climate Change Agreement.

Bill C4 removes Ontario from the forefront of the clean energy economy in North America. Cap and Trade is not a perfect solution to our emissions challenges but it did provide stimulus in the right direction.

I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.

Do not let us turn into a backwater province flouting International and National guidelines for action to reduce man induced climate change. I want to be proud of where I live. Ontario needs strict laws to effect real reduction in our carbon footprint, starting with the greatest offenders.

I look to my government for leadership to deal with difficult issues such as climate change.
I am horrified that this effective instrument is being repealed without any replacement legislation.
It benefits corporations that lead in effective pollution control.
It benefits the middle class.
