Closing the White Pines Wind Project seems to me totally inappropriate given the clear evidence for the need to develop and sustain sources for energy other than those based upon fossil fuels. Ontario should, and indeed can, lead in developing environmentally sustainable energy resources. Read more

I’m a citizen of Ontario and I oppose the closing of the White Pines wind project, which is nearly complete and ready to supply electricity that would power 3,000 homes. How can Ontario be open for business if the government is going to close projects that are almost completed? Read more

Environmental protection is important. Global warming is real. The Ontario government must stand up and create initiatives to support energy projects with zero carbon footprint. I know Doug likes to deny it but we need green energy. The White Pines Wind Project must remain open.

The premier has admitted that he believes that climate change is real and yet all his actions suggest he could care less about addressing the problem. Fossil fuels contribute to climate change and nuclear, while clean, produces waste which is not at all clean and dangerous. Read more

I do not support the closing down of the white pines wind project. We know from the United Nations scientific panel on climate change report that we must focus on renewable, sustainable energy. This is essential to both the environment and the economy. Read more

The Conservatives ran on a platform of Liberal waste, and yet they are doing the exact same thing in cancelling a project with so much money in sunk costs. Renewable energy is the future, so why was there no public consultation prior to this cancellation?

The White Pines Wind Project has to be allowed to proceed because the environment has to be a major consideration in any project or undertaking that involves reducing fossil fuel consumption. Read more

"In a recent forecast, the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) — the Crown corporation that runs the province's electric grid — predicted that, if nothing changes, Ontario will start seeing electricity shortages during peak summer periods starting in 2023 and continuing thereafter. Cancelling a wind energy project that was practically complete would amount to nothing more or less than vandalism. The province would end up paying for this project, only to shut it down and dismantle it. Read more

Shutting down this project is folly of the highest order. Firstly, anyone considering investing in Ontario will think twice knowing the government could pull the plug on their project leaving them with no compensation for expenditures made in good faith and with no recourse to recoup their losses.
