We need to stop with "made in Ontario" solutions and get with the program in terms of what works. We were part of Cap and Trade which is widely understood and will be more and more accepted as time goes on. We need to be part of something common and not a standalone program. Read more

This offers no benefits over the Federal system and seems to forgo the rebate paid to individuals. Please just use the Federal system or at the very least redistribute the proposed GHG fund as a flat rebate to all residents of Ontario.

Consideration be given to waiving or including seasonal requirement for the 15% bio component in fuels for the Northern Region. Bio fuels as low as 5% tend to gel in above ground fuel tanks causing fueling issues and plugged filters, this can occur at -10C.

The amount of GHG allowed should be reduced for each sector by 10 percent a year. Some timelines should be established to eliminate the internal combustion engine. Start with school and city buses. Tell them to go electric within 10 years. Read more

Of course Ontario needs both carrot and stick approaches to encourage better corporate behaviour. The 'carbon tax' narrative is divisive and not helpful. Penalties for Pollution is a phrase that many Ontarians would support, especially if people were informed on this issue. Read more

Flexible compliance is criminal. Hold industry accountable and implement measures that actually change behaviour. Invest in industries and research and development that offer clean energy and real alternatives to the polluting status quo in place now. Read more
