Conservation authories play a HUGE role in maintaining the ecology and environmental conservation in the development of projects. Without them Ontario would be a mess, there would be ton of flooding (cough cough Quebec) and serious damages to ecosystems.

We need to help conservation authorities, not chop their funding. If we take money away from them flooding will get worse and people will get hurt. Please dont pass this.
This act needs to be more strict to developers, not easier. These species that we are losing are disappearing fast. We should be protecting more, not putting a price on it.
Additional amendments need to clearly and directly support with mandatory provincial action/programs the protection and conservation of Ontario’s natural resources.

Conservation Authority designations are made 'for the public good' but the landowner bears the cost in devalued property. This needs to change. Conservation Authorities should pay compensation when their designations damage property values.
The current legislation regarding the rights of our land has been a topic of discussion in my family since time 1970’s when, specifically, the Niagara Escarpment Commission was established.

Conservation Authorities are thebest value on the ground local science agencies you could find. They perform functions that are priceless like protecting a great number of local watersheds which include protecting drinking water, plants, animals, and ultimately sustainimg human life.

The role of CAs is more critical now than ever. The province should be providing more support not less; they are key partners in the climate change fight. They are already accountable to their watershed municipalities given the makeup of their boards.
A key element that is missing from the proposed changes is the importance of a watershed approach. This is in effect a systems approach to resource management.
