I am appalled that the ministry is considering changing the distance of the slop pail for hunting black bear from 200 meters to 30 meters. I think the ministry should Not make this change Thank you

If I was to be honest I do not believe in Bear baiting to begin with. Not at all sportsman like in this day and age what with all the technology out there. It's from the many years ago when such technology did not exist. Read more

I do not believe for an instant that baiting site distance from trails should be reduced. That is inviting disaster. To be honest- feel there should be no baiting AT ALL. Read more

"I object to moving bear baiting sites farther away, the wilderness of Ontario is used by many people, not just hunters and I do not appreciate the garbage/junk left by bear baiters. The bears are not likely dangerous. Read more

I object, the wilderness of Ontario is used by many who prefer not to cause damage. The bears are not dangerous, hiking, and recreating near where bear hunting happens is dangerous. Ontario better not allow this change to take place

Baiting wildlife goes against the 'spirit' of hunting. Baiting of Bears and other wildlife must end! The Spring Bear Hunt must end. I expected the Conservative government would listen to the voters. Stop caterering to a select group and listen to the majority of citizens. Read more

I strongly object. Why would you consider increasing the odds of human/bear encounters? Has the ministry abandoned their opinion that human/bear encounters should be limited as much as possible? Read more

This is a terrible idea. As a user of woodlands for hiking and recreation, I don't want to come across bait and garbage left by "hunters" (those who use bait hardly qualify for the label). Read more

The proposal is absolutely LUDICROUS !!! To endanger hikers, walkers, other ATV and forest users is totally out to lunch! And for what? That some bear killer can brag about her/his being such a great hunter. "Recreational" killing MUST be banned. For who is it fun ??????

My god! You have to be KIDDING ! This is a stupid proposal, bear baiting does NOT BELONG anywhere near recreational trails or roadways, the smell can be very intense, many other animals are attracted as well as domestic pets. Read more

I object to this proposal. It seems absurdly dangerous to reduce this distance. As an avid outdoor enthusiast I would hope Ontario does not proceed with this dangerous change.

Attracting bears closer to humans is a terrible idea. Drawing hunting activities closer to human traffic areas is an even worse one. This change should not be made.

I object. Humans are 100% the issue when it comes to wildlife. Until there is nothing left on this earth humans will not be happy. This is cruel! Baiting should be illegal... I have heard stories of hunters killing out of season and dragging a bear to a creek to dispose. Want a name!?
