1. Re: Establishing priorities of water use to be in the regulations.
This is long overdue. The more population pressure in an area the more need for priorities. S. Ont. is getting too crowded... have you thought of doing something about that?

Given the situation with water issues world wide and locally, these new regulations must be firm and dedicated to protecting water!
The so called sustainability into the future for frivolous uses like plastic water is irresponsible at best!

I would like to see included in the policy a plan to phase out bottled water in Ontario within 10 years. We know how much plastic bottles are ruining the environment. Let's do our share to clean this up.
Water isn't just something we drink, look at, play with or bathe in. Water is life for humans, plants, animals and the Earth. Its existence as a pure, renewable, healthy entity is critical for the continuation of all life forms.

As a politician, you will want to recognize that many people already see water bottling for single use as anathema to a civilized society. Climate change, pollution, problems with recycling, choking marine life - it is basically a very dirty and unnecessary business enterprise.

Water is a basic right and should be accessible to everyone not just the water companies. We shouldn’t be wasting water on making plastic. We are better then this
1) The local municipality MUST have a veto to any permit for taking water for commercial bottling purposes
2) The ministry needs to set the prioritieses beginning with the needs of the affected ecosystems, the local municipality, agriculture and lastly, commercial or industrial uses.

Small plastic bottles of water sold for high prices are ecologically unacceptable.
Tanker trucks moving MINED water for bottling, tear up the roads, costing municipalities maintenance.
Water is our most precious commodity and should never be privatized and sold for profit.
Thank you for the opportunity to offer my comments on the regulatory changes proposed for the management of water. I would like to suggest that the changes be strengthened with the following:

Registry number 019-1340 As a member of a community directly affected by mass water-taking, it is extremely important to me and my family that municipalities have a voice in the decisions made regarding water takings from our water supply, especially for-profit bottled water companies.

I support your proposal that allows municipalities to have input in whether a water bottling company is important to the community or not, that there must be priorities for our water supply, the findings of any research, proposals, etc. must be transparent and made open to the public.

Transparency is absolutely critical, and municipalities must have a say in who gets to take water for commercial profit. Thank you for protecting our future by carefully considering the impact of water taking.
