As a tax paying citizen living in the Thunder Bay District I am appalled by the proposed changes to the conservation authorities in Ontario. The Lakehead Regional conservation Authority is a valuable asset to our community in the district.

As someone who has lived in Ontario my whole life, it is absolutely disgusting that Doug Ford Government is trying to push through this proposal. I do not support it whatsoever. We need to be protecting our natural resources and conservation areas as a PROVINCE not just by each municipality.
Please don't handcuff the ability of Conservation Authorities to provide recreation opportunities. Recreation provision should be a central mandate of the CAs.

the province should provide additional funding to support any new requirements, and to preserve funding for conservation authorities’ recreation activities, most notably maintaining local conservation areas.
This is not the time in the history of our planet to divide core and non core funding thereby potentially decreasing the funds available to care for the environment.
If anything we should be looking to provide more resources to take care of environmental issues.

I support the work that the Conservation Authorities have been doing to protect life and property from natural hazards. I support all their education and outreach projects and believe they should be handled through a watershed management approach.

It seems there is some concern by conservation authorities that programs and oversight into our fragile natural resources and ecosystems are in jeopardy from these and other changes being made by the ontario government. I think they are correct in their concerns.

Municipality’s in and around Thunder Bay will have a hard time funding our current 8 conservation areas. In COVID times, we need to stay spread out and what a better way than to visit the local conservation area to learn and explore with friends and family.
