This approval effectively supersedes the elected municipal government's role. It bypasses processes that are put there to ensure that there is enough time to gather information and evaluate zoning and building. These lands cannot be recovered once lost. I do not support this bill.

Please keep the urban boundary of the City of Hamilton and do not allow expansion of the urban boundary to swallow up more vital farmland. Please require developers to develop within the city - there is a lot of infill to develop. Read more

I feel it is very important to hold that boundary and not to expand onto our valuable farmland . The builders say that we need housing for thousands more people who are expected to arrive in the Hamilton area in the future. Read more

I fully support intensifying within urban boundaries so that we can conserve the farmland we need to feed urban and rural Ontarians, and protect the natural areas that remain so that they can continue to support the lives of humans and other species in Ontario. Read more

I am in favour of a firm urban boundary. Our City Council reached this decision after much thought and input and I don't understand how, in a democracy, the provincial government could overturn this. Our environment and our health needs as much green space as possible.
