What this bill seems to propose is simply building ANY home faster at any cost, regardless of affordability, quality, environmental ramifications, and at the expense of municipalities. What is the point of building more homes in this manner?

10 Conservation Authorities from across Ontario have written a letter outlining concerns with Bill 23 and the loss of local decision-making. We should listen to our Conservation Authorities as that is their responsibility to protect environment from harmful development.

Bill 23 does not address the housing crisis in Ontario. It is driven by developers who are very powerful in our province. The money will be generated by the production of high priced, low density homes. This will not provide affordable homes within urban setting that our children can afford.

We should not limit the powers of the conservation authorities, they are in place to ensure properties won't be built in in appropriate places such as flood planes. They also look to ensure that proper due diligence is done when it comes to preserving Ontario's flora and fauna.
I submit to the Province of Ontario re: Bill 23, that it violates our Agreement with First Nations People to share and protect the lands by the Wampum Belt Covenant. This Agreement is declared at every public meeting in Ontario. Its violation begins with the lie to protect the Greenbelt.

In reality this proposal cuts spending to cities and threatens to increase taxes. It removes protection for renters and no longer requires developers to replace affordable housing when existing buildings are re-developed.

I am strongly opposed to this legislation because of a number of reasons: 1) the province needs to limit urban sprawl because we need to protect valuable farmland and maintain or enhance our own food sovereignty. The cost to buy imported produce is rising and is out of the reach of many Ontarians.

Do not let this proposal go through. Cutting into the Greenbelt, easing up on environmental protection policies, tearing down history, digging up habitats of species that are a vital part of our wetland are not a solution to the housing crisis!! Try rent control.

This policy seems to be written by and for developers. Like previous Conservative governments, this legislation will download costs to the municipalities, while limiting their ability to control and manage development.

If the lots between 1191 to 1345 Winchester Rd E, Oshawa (Harmony to 407 on Winchester Rd E) be converted to mixed zoning to accomodate commercial as well as residential sub divisions, it will allow for the expansion of 500 homes, commercial lots for the growing north oshawa region.
Yes, Ontario needs more housing. We especially need housing for those with low or mid-level incomes. Huge homes in spreading subdivisions carved out of greenbelt lands, filled-in wetlands and conservation authority lands are only options for the wealthy. The wealthy are not housing insecure.

There has to be some better place to build than the greenbelt. The greenbelt is protected for a reason, leave it alone.
The greenbelt should not be opened for the proposed evelopment. Thank you.
- R. Bagga
Municipalities have carefully crafted green standards to ensure new construction is environmentally, socially, and economically responsible. These requirements support their climate commitments, reduce the burden on our strained electricity system, and generate local economic value.
