I have a cottage on Lake Kahshe and I do not support floating accommodations on our lake. This will impact water quality for plants and fish and wildlife not to mention other hazardous public safety concerns and noise pollution. Read more

I have read this information and am very happy with the direction you are going. I think that the reasons you have taken this stance are very valuable to our neighbourhoods, which are our responsibility. Read more

I vehemently do not support floating accommodations due to the impact to water safety, traffic, noise, and not least of all due to the potential impact on the aquatic ecosystem. Read more

As a property owner on Kahshe Lake in Muskoka, I urge the government to ban the use of watercraft for camping on our lakes. The proposed restrictions to Bill 161-17, do not go far enough to protect the environment we have paid dearly for!! Read more

My family and I do not consent to floating accommodations on public waters, particularly narrower lakes that require careful navigation and observation of boating laws. Read more

As a cottage owner on Kahshe Lake, I think floating accommodations are a horrible idea. I do not trust that people using this type of accommodation would be respectful of the environment, including noise levels, and polluting the water. Read more

If the Ontario government were to allow for floating accommodations on any lakes (other than the Great Lakes) in Ontario I will never vote for the Conservative Party again. This would be a disaster for lakefront property owners especially those on small to medium sized lakes. Read more

This is inadequate to regulate floating cottages that are rented out - by changing tenants every week they can slip under the regulations. Also, the method of disposal of black water must be specified and subject to inspection. Read more

I am opposed to the proposal to allow floating accommodations on lakes, including Kahshe Lake. They will destroy the environmental balance of the lake water, they will destroy the atmosphere of tranquility, they will destroy the entire ecosystem, writ large, of the lake.

Kahshe lake is a relatively small lake in area and is relatively shallow in depth ,add to that the rock ledges just below the surface and you have a recipe for catastrophe if you allow a vessel with large capacity tanks holding fuel, human waste and fluids generated by many hours on the water. The proposed changes will have a significant and unaddressed impact on recreational boaters, particularly the provision which will limit where they can anchor i.e."adding a new condition to prohibit camping on water within 300 meters of a developed shoreline, including any waterfront structure, dock Read more

I have reviewed the new proposed regulation. I have significant concerns over the 300m distance from onshore structures. We anchor our boat in the sheltered bays on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. For safety we anchor in the protected and shallow waters close to the shoreline. Read more

My family has been on Kahshe Lake since the early 1900s & have witnessed the changes in the lake water over that time There has been a steady decline - acid rain, poor septic systems, growth of green algae. We believe okaying floating houseboats would only add to the decline of the lake waters. Read more
