Please save the old churches like Marian Shrine in Toronto, and the old houses. They bring charm and beauty to a neighbourhood. And churches provide an important social service, saving the government money on mental health services, food services, and policing.

Please do not make it easier to tear down repairable old houses, and replace them with huge houses. This wastes resources. Instead, subsidize repairs and restoration of old buildings, and mandate recycling materials when demolition is inevitable.

The timeline to investigate and prepare valid recommendations for hundreds of listed heritage properties is extremely tight and impossible to manage. It is imperative that this deadline be extended to give municipalities the flexibility to do the job right. Read more

Regarding ERO # 019-8738: I think the proposed recommendations by the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM) that addresses non-designated or “listed” properties included on municipal registers is warranted and should be passed. Read more
