These EROs are follow up to provincial ‘Bill 5’ components that weakened Endangered Species protections - already over 100 at-risk species have been removed from protections because of the changes. Weakening species protection threatens both nature, climate and ultimately humans. Read more

Ontario’s proposed regulations and guidelines under the new Species Conservation Act, 2025 would further weaken the protection of species at risk and their habitats, and remove the public’s right to have a say in decisions that will have serious ecological impacts.
