I am absolutely horrified that this government would consider removing protections for endangered species just for the sake of more buildings and commercial spaces. Each creature in our eco system plays an important role, and wildlife experts have been vocal about the damage this proposal could do.

Bill 5 should be repealed and all endangered or at risk species should be protected in Ontario. We as Ontarians should be responsible stewards of our lands, especially in the context of a global climate and biodiversity crisis.

Hi there,
Under the current Ontario Endangered Species Act (ESA) all decisions are made by an independent body, based on empirical evidence, including Indigenous Traditional Knowledge. The current ESA protects animals on the list from being killed, from harm, harassment and protects habitat.

This is absolutely NOT how we care for this land and our progeny coming for the next 7 generations. I always have in mind the saying... "What kind of ancestor will I be?" Shameful behaviour.
Please add an amendment to this Bill that states clearly that the 42 species of migratory birds and fish no longer protected in Ontario will be covered under the federal government's Species at Risk Act, the Migratory Bird Act and the Fisheries Act.
