I am very much against amalgamation of CA's in order to, as Mininster McCarthy said on our local news "Get shovels in the ground sooner". CAs play a vital role in protecting source water and mitigating flooding. Forget the shovels for goodness sake! This is about saving lives.

The local CA's have a closer understanding of what is happening in their respective areas that will be lost once a centralized position is taken. We would like the proposal scrapped leaving the local CA's to determine how to go forward in their respective areas.

I do not think amalgamating all these boards is a good idea. The smaller conservation boards will be forgotten and the larger ones will have the most say. It is also important that the local governments be on these.
