Proposed regulatory amendments related to the treatment of corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) were approved and will allow Industrial Conservation Initiative (ICI) participants to reduce their GA charges based on the electricity purchased under the eligible PPA.

The ministry is streamlining permissions for certain storm water management works by moving them to a registration-first approach or exempting them from a permission. These changes will allow important projects to begin faster while ensuring appropriate environmental protections are in place.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval was issued to Galibier Materials Inc. for approval of the establishment of works for the collection, transmission, treatment and reuse of up to 9,464 litres/minute of wash water from aggregate washing operations located at the existing Galibier Lewis Pit located in the Springwater Township, County of Simcoe.

Approval has been granted for the renewal of the Limited Operational Flexibility for Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) 1223-9CPRC6 for Panolam Industries Ltd., a particle board and miscellaneous wood products manufacturing facility, located at 61 Domtar Road, in Huntsville, Ontario.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval was issued to Conestoga Cold Storage Limited for approval of the establishment of works for the treatment of sanitary sewage and subsurface disposal of treated effluent from a new cold storage and warehouse facility located at 16408 Steeles Avenue, Town of Halton Hills, Regional Municipality of Halton.

The ministry has issued a new Environmental Compliance Approval for the establishment of subsurface sewage disposal works rated at 37,700 litres per day, to service a campground located at 108 Miller Lake Shore Road, in the Town of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Establishment of an industrial stormwater management Works to serve Great Lakes Port Management Inc. (GLPM), trucking/trailer site, located in the City of Thorold, for the collection, transmission, treatment and disposal of stormwater run-off from a total catchment area of approximately 5.0 hectares, to provide normal level water quality.

A decision was made to approve an amendment to the Niagara Escarpment Plan to re-designate 30.5 ha of land from Escarpment Rural Area to Mineral Resource Extraction Area to facilitate an expansion to the existing Dufferin Milton quarry and to approve site specific policy amendments to support the expansion.

Approval has been granted to amend Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 0001103193 for Chemtrade Chemicals Canada Ltd., a chemical manufacturing facility located in the City of Thorold, Regional Municipality of Niagara.
