We have decided to change the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority’s mandate to include digital reporting services through its registry for a wider range of waste and resource recovery programs. Combining these services will save businesses time and money as a larger group of users will share costs and benefit from a modern registry.

We have issued an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage) No. 4610-9FFK4U for The Corporation of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville for sewage works serving the Maple View Lodge Long Term Care building redevelopment, located in the Township of Athens, United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, Ontario.

To promote administrative efficiency, the Ministry amended O.Reg. 506/18 to streamline the exemption process for eligible building owners by removing the requirement to submit supporting documentation when requesting either an on-going or annual exemption from reporting.

Approval was granted for a site plan amendment to allow Malcon Sand and Gravel Corp. in the City of Barrie to allow the importation of excess soil to restore pre-existing grades.

We are making changes to address duplication and overlap with the federal government’s requirements for toxic substances to reduce burden for facilities. We are moving ahead with implementing a new administrative monetary penalties framework for environmental contraventions, based on changes made via Bill 132 (Better for People, Smarter for Business Act, 2019).

We have completed the 5-year review of the Guide. Changes to the Guide include alignment with updated standards/criteria and regulations, as well as a revised assessment methodology. The updated Guide will apply to new projects.
