As a result of changes to the Planning Act in Schedule 24 to Bill 276, the Supporting Recovery and Competitiveness Act, 2021, complementary and consequential changes will be made to O. Reg. 197/96 Consent Applications, O. Reg. 144/95 Criteria – Validation of Title and O. Reg. 150/95 Criteria – Power of Sale.

Amendments have been made to the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act, through Bill 91, to create an authorization process for special projects to test or demonstrate new activities, including carbon storage, and to enhance measures to safeguard people and the environment. Bill 91 received royal assent on June 8, 2023.

While all comments received were considered, we decided to make no amendments to the proposed legislative changes at this time.

The government has made changes that restore all 15 areas of land that were redesignated or removed from the Greenbelt in December 2022.

Ontario Regulation 311/06, as modified, sets out specific rules for planning matters in process at the time the Growth Plan, 2017 came into force on July 1, 2017.

On September 28, 2021 Ontario filed O. Reg. 679/21, Community Net Metering Projects, and other consequential amendments to provide a framework for community net metering (CNM) and authorize the West Five development as a CNM demonstration project. The new regulation will support innovation and learning for community-based energy systems in Ontario.

On November 25, 2022, an amendment to O.Reg. 509/18, made under the Electricity Act, 1998  was filed to update test methods, scope and/or efficiency requirements for 18 products to harmonize with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or other industry standards.

An aggregate licence was issued to Dufferin Aggregates to make changes to the conditions of their licence to operate the Flamboro Quarry.  The annual tonnage is 3.5 million tonnes and the licenced site operates in Township of West Flamborough, City of Hamilton.

Ontario has made changes to the Planning Act, City of Toronto Act, 2006 and Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing Act to support increasing housing supply and streamlining planning processes.

We have approved changes to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006, (PPCRA) and changes to the Historical Parks Act (HPA) to restore an important heritage site to boost tourism and drive economic growth in Wasaga Beach, while continuing to support the area’s natural and cultural heritage.

We decided not to release the proposed guide because there are proposed changes to the Provincial Policy Statement coming soon. We will make further changes to the proposed guide once the new Provincial Policy Statement is released. We will consult on those further changes.

The ministry is no longer pursuing this proposal. The actions in this proposal, as well as the comments and feedback received were considered in the drafting of the current government’s Made-in-Ontario Environment Plan, which outlines proposed actions and commitments to help strengthen the province’s resilience to the impacts of climate change.

Approval was granted for a site plan amendment to allow R.W. Tomlinson Limited to change the final rehabilitation from a pond to a filled-to-grade landform, allowing for the importation of excess soils in the City of Ottawa.

The application made by Hillway Equipment Limited to make a number of operational changes to the current site plan has been approved.

Approval was granted for a site plan amendment to allow Lafarge Canada Inc. to increase the extraction area for Licence No. 2180, operating in the Township of Zorra, County of Oxford.

The Statement of Environmental Values of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport has been updated to reflect its new name, structure and mandate.

2419787 Ontario Inc. withdrew request to amend the current site plan to allow materials recovered from the licensee’s hydrovac operations to be imported to the licenced site in the City of Ottawa.

A major site plan amendment was approved for Ronald A. Cooney Haulage Ltd. to amend the rehabilitation plan for Aggregate Resources Act Licence #1510.
