On January 29, 2021, O. Reg. 509/18, made under the Electricity Act, 1998 was amended to add five new products, to revise efficiency standards for televisions to harmonize with Natural Resources Canada, and to delay new standards for liquid-filled distribution transformers by two years.
We have amended the Emissions Performance Standards (EPS) and greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting programs to provide voluntary participants with more flexibility to exit the EPS program.

A new vehicle emission regulation under the Environmental Protection Act and amendments to the Vehicle Permits Regulation under the Highway Traffic Act will be in effect January 1, 2020, which will clarify and strengthen on-road vehicle emissions requirements and set out rules around the testing of emissions from heavy diesel commercial vehicle.
We finalized the regulation that will make battery producers environmentally accountable and financially responsible for collecting and managing their products at end-of-life in February 2020. The regulation for electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) was finalized in September 2020.
