The Mining Act was amended to enable regulations to establish a “permit by rule” model, allowing claim holders to sell the end product of a bulk sample and retain proceeds, provided that certain conditions are met. There are no anticipated environmental impacts associated with this decision.

An amending regulation under the Planning Act was filed on March 5, 2018 and came into force on April 3, 2018. The regulation sets out new transition rules to deal with certain planning matters in process when the land use planning changes made by the Building Better Communities and Conserving Watersheds Act, 2017 took effect.
A new regulation under the Planning Act would support the implementation of the new community benefits charge authority and parkland dedication to ensure that municipalities have the tools necessary to fund services that growing communities need while making the costs of building housing more predictable and increasing housing supply.
We have approved updates to the assessment reports and source protection plan for the Saugeen, Grey Sauble, Northern Bruce Peninsula Source Protection Region. Proceeding with these updates will ensure the assessment reports and source protection plan are current and in place to protect sources of drinking water for the region.

Bill 76, Barrie-Oro-Medonte-Springwater Boundary Adjustment Act, 2025, received Royal Assent, which enables the transfer of approximately 1,673 hectares of land from the Townships of Oro-Medonte and Springwater to the City of Barrie (“the City”) as of January 1, 2026.
We have approved the amendments to the Source Protection Plan for the Saugeen-Grey-Sauble-Northern Bruce Peninsula Source Protection Region. The amendments add new wellhead protection areas for new wells in the municipality of Huron-Kinloss. The amendments also make changes to the policies to make them easier to understand and implement.
The Minister has approved amendments to the Maitland Valley Assessment Report and the Maitland Valley Source Protection Plan. These amendments involve:
updating the vulnerable area mapping for the Century Heights drinking water system; and,
updating the groundwater protection zone for the Lucknow drinking water system

Ontario Regulation 161/17 was amended to clarify that floating accommodations cannot be placed or used for outdoor accommodation or camping purposes on public land covered by water. Ontario Regulation 326/94 was also amended to make the same clarification for non-residents camping on public land in northern Ontario.

The ministry issued a new Permit to Take Water No. 4512-CCMNED to The Sarjeant Company Limited (Sarjeant) on June 15, 2022 and expiring on June 15, 2027.
