The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has ended the Drive Clean light vehicle program and will be proposing changes to the heavy diesel commercial motor vehicles program and strengthened on-road enforcement.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 (ESA) to the Regional Municipality of Halton for road construction work that will impact Redside Dace and its habitat. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects, and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.

Changes were made to O. Reg. 232/18 - Inclusionary Zoning under the Planning Act to place a maximum 25-year period for which inclusionary zoning units must be maintained as affordable, and a 5% cap on the number or floor area of residential units that can be set aside as inclusionary zoning units. 

Pursuant to Section 53 of the Planning Act, provisional consent was granted on September 14, 2021 in respect of Application 57-C-216839 to sever a 0.17-hectare piece of land to be transferred in a lot addition to the neighboring lot, in Aberdeen unincorporated township, Algoma District. The last day this decision can be appealed is October 4, 2021.

Pursuant to Section 53 of the Planning Act, provisional consent was granted on November 19, 2019 in respect of Application 54-C-192666 for the creation of one new lot for agricultural purposes. The last date of appeal of this decision under the Planning Act is December 9, 2019.

We have granted approval for Southwest United Canada Inc. located in Vaughan, Ontario to be registered under the Technical Standards Registry – Air Pollution. This facility will adhere to all technical and operational requirements in the Metal Finishers – Industry Standard under the Local Air Quality Regulation (O. Reg. 419/05).

We have issued a benefit permit to Bellmere Holdings Inc., to develop a seasonal trailer park site that will impact up to 91 Category 2 Butternut trees. The permit includes actions to benefit the species, minimize adverse effects, and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.

Ontario has made amendments to Ontario Regulation 406/19 and the associated Soil Rules to increase soil management flexibility and support greater reuse of excess soil from housing, infrastructure, and other construction projects.

This Permit to Take Water (No. 7112-DSZTBW) has been issued to Great Bear Resources Ltd. (the proponent) for their Advanced Exploration Program operation. Water will be taken for the purposes of underground dewatering, dust suppression, potable water supply, flow supplementation and contingency plans from one watercourse and six wells.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007, to Clubhouse Developments Inc. to allow for the construction of a residential subdivision that will adversely impact Little Brown Myotis, a species at risk bat, and its habitat. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects.

Permit to Take Water No. P-300-6293066621 was issued to ABACUS EQUITY INFUSION LIMITED for construction dewatering purposes. Water will be taken from two ponds located in Whitby, Ontario for two years.

Permit to Take Water No. 6405-DADLX4 was issued to Reid's Heritage Homes Ltd. on October 30, 2024, for construction dewatering purposes. Water will be taken from two wells located in the City of Guelph, Ontario.

Permit to Take Water No. P-300-3252348826 was issued to METROPIA MINTO (SIXTEENTH) HOLDINGS INC. on January 25, 2024, to amend Permit No. 6020-CTMMSC by adding a pond for construction dewatering (Sanitary Connection Trench). The permit was issued for one year.

Permit to Take Water No. P-300-7354450466 has been issued to TCU Development Corporation, for construction dewatering purposes. Water will be taken from two ponds, located in Ottawa, Ontario.

We have adopted a new Technical Standard for mining sites to address air emissions and help protect communities who live close to these industrial sources. This is a sector-based compliance approach under the local air quality regulation.
