Land use planning is a process that determines the most appropriate use of land and water. We are working with McDowell Lake First Nation to develop a community based land use plan for an area in the Far North. The plan will identify which lands will be dedicated to protection and which will be open for potential economic development.
The Ministry of Energy has decided to move forward with the proposal. Lieutenant Governor in Council has approved the Orders in Council (OICs) and Minister’s Directive pursuant to the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998 (OEBA). The OICs and Directive will facilitate the timely development of five new transmission lines in Southwestern Ontario.

An application has been made by Owen Sound Ledgerock Ltd. to amend their site plan to allow extraction to occur below the established water table. The licensee discovered that the water table at this quarry was at a higher elevation than was originally recorded.
The proposed work program on the Griffith Quarry Project would be trenching and a bulk sampling program removing no more than 1000 tonnes, keeping the project below the threshold of advanced exploration. The location of the bulk sample is in a previously disturbed area where historic stripping and sampling has occurred.
