We have expanded the boundaries of 23 protected areas (17 provincial parks and 6 conservation reserves) and corrected the name of Chapleau Nemegosenda River Provincial Park. These changes contribute to the long-term sustainability of Ontario’s natural heritage and provide increased opportunities for recreational activities.

We have changed when facilities have to review their toxic reduction plans. This will help to align the first two plan reviews with federal timelines and ensure facilities plan and report on current and relevant toxic substances. Ontario is proceeding with the proposal to enable the transport of preserved baitfish and leeches into and out of Bait Management Zones (BMZ) and to allow the direct transport of both live and dead baitfish and leeches out of a BMZ and into an adjacent BMZ so that they can be used in the BMZ they were acquired in.
We made regulatory amendments to support a smooth transition from the federal OBPS to Ontario’s EPS program which applies new obligations and greenhouse gas performance standards for Ontario industry beginning on January 1, 2022. The amendments will complement the changes proposed in 019-2813.
