Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, received Royal Assent on November 28, 2022. The Act amends the Ontario Heritage Act (OHA) and its regulations to reduce red tape and remove barriers that are slowing down housing construction and other priority projects while continuing to conserve heritage properties that matter most to local communities.

Changes have been made to Ontario Regulation 299/19: Additional Residential Units to facilitate the creation of additional residential units by removing barriers that would reduce or eliminate the need for rezoning or minor variances in certain cases. The amended regulation can be accessed here:

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 (ESA) to the Regional Municipality of Halton for road construction work that will impact Redside Dace and its habitat. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects, and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.

We have approved regulations to modify the existing environmental assessment process for four priority transit projects in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

We've made changes that would help increase the supply of affordable housing by providing municipalities with an additional tool that they can use to address affordable housing needs.

Approval is granted for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (industrial sewage) for QSL International Ltd. (name changed from Fednav Ltd. during the ECA review process) , for the approval of sewage works to serve 1281 Old Thorold Stone Road, located in the City of Thorold, Ontario.

On April 1, 2024, O. Reg. 240/00 Advanced Exploration, Mine Development and Closure Under Part VII of the Act will be replaced with a new regulation, O Reg. 35/24, titled "Rehabilitation of Lands." This new regulation retains most of the provisions of O. Reg. 240/00, integrating amendments and aligning with the Building More Mines Act, 2023. 

Lafarge Canada Inc. has been issued a licence to remove aggregate from a pit below water in the Township of North Dundas.

A Permit to Take Water No. 5782-CPVJRK was issued to GIP Properties Corp on March 24, 2023 to renew Permit No. 4663-B2YGNE for 10 years. Water will be taken from one well for dewatering, aggregate washing, construction and manufacturing purposes at the Brockville Quarry, in the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley, Ontario.

A decision was made on October 4, 2021 to approve Official Plan Amendment No. 5 (OPA No. 5) to the Official Plan for the County of Huron, as adopted by By-Law No. 2021-027, with seventeen (17) modifications related to matters of provincial interest.

A decision was made on December 19, 2025 to approve, with modifications, the Town of Milton Official Plan Amendment 92 (OPA 92), as adopted pursuant to sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act, by By-law 039-2025. The approved OPA 92 updates Milton's Official Plan to guide the Town's growth until 2051.

An approval is granted to amend the existing ECA No. 4117-8YAKGG for the use and operation of a 2.1 hectares waste disposal site for transfer and processing of industrial, commercial, and municipal, nonhazardous solid waste from residential sources, including grinding and shredding of wood.

We passed a new regulation that will help create offset credits to use in Ontario’s cap and trade program.

We have amended the Renewable Energy Approvals regulation to add eligibility requirements related to electricity demand. The amendments also prohibit a renewable energy approval from being issued for large wind projects if their power purchase agreements were cancelled by the Independent Electricity System Operator.

We issued an amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval No. 4875-7F4N5K for Tomlinson Environmental Services Ltd., operating a composting facility located at 2069 Joyceville Road, Kingston, Ontario.
