A new regulation and regulation changes under the Planning Act were filed on August 29, 2019 and came into force on September 3, 2019. The changes are needed to facilitate implementation of the changes to the Planning Act made by Schedule 12 of the More Homes, More Choice Act, 2019.

The government has made changes that restore the 15 areas of land that were redesignated or removed from the Greenbelt in December 2022. The Greenbelt Statute Law Amendment Act, 2023 also ensures that any future changes to the Greenbelt boundary can only be made through legislation.

A decision was made to proceed with the proposal as described in Environmental Registry posting #013-1669, which will provide an extension to the current regulation for forestry operations in managed Crown forests, include those species listed in 2017 in applicable regulations, and implement changes relating to safe harbour authorizations.

Lafarge Canada Inc. was approved to amend the site plan for the Pittsburgh Quarry, located in the City of Kingston, to change the sequence of extraction phases.

A number of amending regulations under the Planning Act were filed on March 5, 2018 and came into force on April 3, 2018. The changes to the regulations facilitate implementation of legislative changes made by the Building Better Communities and Conserving Watersheds Act, 2017.

The government has released A Place to Grow which replaces the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. Housekeeping changes to O.Reg. 311/06 clarify how to apply the Plan’s policies, update Plan references, provide clarity for decisions on certain matters before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal and rules that are no longer needed.

A decision has been made to proceed with establishing a framework for authorizing projects to test or demonstrate carbon storage and other new or innovative activities using certain types of wells and to remove security exemptions and caps for all types of wells going forward if the well is new, converted to another use or deepened.
