Approval was granted for a site plan amendment to allow Nicli Aggregates Inc. in the Municipality of Thames Centre to reduce the north setback to 0m changing the final depth of extraction from above the water table to below the water table in this area of the site.
As part of our environmental assessment modernization efforts, the ministry has amended the Ontario Waterpower Association Class EA to better align EA requirements with the potential for environmental risk, eliminate duplication and streamline the process. This posting provides information on those changes and brings those changes into effect.
We are proposing changes to the Environmental Assessment Act to provide the Minister with authority to waive or alter the 30-day waiting period following completion of a Class Environmental Assessment process. This will help critical projects to proceed more quickly.
