Ontario has approved the White-tailed Deer Population Objective Setting and Harvest Management Guidelines. These guidelines will assist with improving consistency, transparency and alignment of deer population objective setting and harvest strategies.

We issued an Environmental Compliance Approval to Maple Transfer and Recycling Inc. (MTR) for the transfer and processing of non-hazardous solid waste, including construction and demolition waste, commercial and industrial waste, recyclable materials, wood waste, broken concrete, and excess soil at a site located in the City of Vaughan.

The ministry has amended existing Environmental Compliance Approval No. 7929-CQYQWU issued to American Iron and Metal Company Inc. to reflect as-built conditions of industrial stormwater management works servicing 139 Steel City Court, located in the City of Hamilton, Ontario.

We issued a Certificate of Property Use No. 3020-BCKNDQ to the Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada for the intended commercial use of the property at 180 King Street South, Waterloo, Ontario.

This decision is to amend Permit to Take Water No.1401-AB7LS4 for industrial and miscellaneous purposes. Water will be taken from the St. Clair River to be used as cooling water and other miscellaneous uses including steam production, dust suppression etc., located in the City of Sarnia, County of Lambton, Ontario.

A Certificate of Property Use was issued to Wilsdale Warehousing Inc. for the property located at 95 John Street, Orangeville on January 15, 2024.

We have approved the issuance of an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval No. A920034 for Direct Genetics Inc. (Jones Pumping and Coulter Pumping) for a hauled sewage disposal site.

The sections of the Mining Act relating to the recovery of minerals, and a new regulation (O. Reg. 463/24) under ss. 176 (1) of the Mining Act to support interested applicants to recover valuable minerals from tailings and mine wastes in Ontario are expected to take effect on July 1, 2025.

The Ministry has decided to amend O. Reg. 45/11 to set out the conditions that are required for mining claimholders to sell the end product of a bulk sample and recover associated costs, without first obtaining the Minister’s permission: a “permit by rule” approach. This will allow previous amendments to the Mining Act to come into force.
