We are making regulatory changes to Regulation 347: General – Waste Management under the Environmental Protection Act. The changes capture registration and reporting requirements to support electronic service delivery and require the regulated community to provide reporting information to the Resource Recovery and Productivity Authority.
The Ministry of Mines is proposing to rehabilitate the mine hazards at the abandoned Gould Copper Mine. Project planning is being carried out in accordance with the Class Environmental Assessment for Activities of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines under the Mining Act (Class Environmental Assessment).
We are proposing updates to the document Records of Site Condition: A Guide on Site Assessment, the Cleanup of Brownfield Sites and the Filing of Records of Site Condition (RSC Guide) to help those involved in brownfields redevelopment projects in Ontario understand the Record of Site Condition (RSC) program processes and requirements.
We have amended Ontario’s Blue Box Regulation (O. Reg. 391/21) under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016. These changes are designed to maintain existing recycling services while addressing rising system costs and providing producers with greater flexibility and regulatory certainty.
The Ministry of Mines is proposing to issue a mining rights only Exploratory Licence of Occupation to Agnico Eagle Mines Limited for a former gold mine(Toburn Property). Project planning is being carried out in accordance with the Class Environmental Assessment for Activities of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines under the Mining Act.

We are making changes to address duplication and overlap with the federal government’s requirements for toxic substances to reduce burden for facilities. Facilities with existing toxics reduction plans will no longer be required to review those plans. In addition, all facilities in Ontario will no longer have new planning or reporting required.
We are moving forward with regulatory changes to allow the ministry and owners and operators of wastewater facilities to act quickly to help ensure that waterways in Ontario are protected during an emergency, including by providing wastewater facility owners with temporary staffing options and extending operator licences.

The ministry is proposing a regulation that would set a timeframe for a permission to be issued and for an ecological compensation agreement to be signed under s.28.0.1 of the Conservation Authorities Act for development on lands described in Ontario Regulation 568/21 (Zoning Order — Town of Innisfil, County of Simcoe).
We amended the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998, to provide government with authority to make regulations, and decided to implement those regulations, to streamline and modernize leave-to-construct approvals for certain pipeline relocation or reconstruction projects to facilitate key government commitments to build transit and housing faster.

Bill 76, Barrie-Oro-Medonte-Springwater Boundary Adjustment Act, 2025, received Royal Assent, which enables the transfer of approximately 1,673 hectares of land from the Townships of Oro-Medonte and Springwater to the City of Barrie (“the City”) as of January 1, 2026.
