The minister has approved updates to the assessment reports and source protection plans for the Trent Conservation Coalition Source Protection Region to comply with a Minister’s order issued on May 21, 2019.
Amendments have been made to the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act, through Bill 91, to create an authorization process for special projects to test or demonstrate new activities, including carbon storage, and to enhance measures to safeguard people and the environment. Bill 91 received royal assent on June 8, 2023.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to LTM Land Corp. and three individuals for construction activities that will impact Least Bittern, which is a species at risk. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects and requires monitoring and reporting.

Amendments to the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act enable the ministry to act directly to reduce risks from hazardous wells when an operator is non-compliant and deceased, insolvent, or bankrupt. These changes were part of the Resource Management and Safety Act, 2025 and took effect on December 3, 2025.
We amended the regulations under the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993 (EBR) to make sure they align with the government’s structure, and to update references to amended or repealed legislation

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is amending the Greenbelt Plan to add 13 new Urban River Valley areas and lands in the Paris Galt Moraine in Wellington County and remove or redesignate 15 areas of land.
We have approved the amendments to the assessment reports and source protection plans for the Ausable Bayfield and Maitland Valley Source Protection Areas. The amendments update wellhead protection areas around 6 municipal wells, revise risk management policies for consistency and help with implementation.
We are proposing regulatory and policy changes that would enable continued use of existing private recreation camps in provincial parks and conservation reserves, while maintaining ecological integrity.

The Greenbelt Statute Law Amendment Act, 2023 that includes Schedule 1 - the Duffins Rouge Agricultural Preserve Act ,2023 (DRAPA, 2023), came into effect on December 6, 2023. DRAPA, 2023 reinstates the legal protections of the easements and covenants applicable to the lands within the Duffins Rouge Agricultural Preserve.
We finalized criteria, methods and mapping for the Natural Heritage System for the Growth Plan area for the Greater Golden Horseshoe. This supports the Growth Plan and promotes landscape level management to reverse the trend of habitat loss in the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has released the Minister’s Annual Reports on Lake Simcoe for 2019-20 and 2021-22. These reports summarize measures taken in those years to implement the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan, as required under Section 12 (1) of the Lake Simcoe Protection Act.
