We’re taking the first step towards removing barriers for geologic carbon storage in Ontario and have released our longer-term plan for proposals to regulate carbon storage and the demonstration or testing of other new technologies through a phased approach, informed by the feedback received on the Geologic Carbon Storage discussion paper.

To further reduce regulatory burden for the waterpower sector while maintaining environmental protection, we have removed existing Permits to Take Water for waterpower facilities. This action follows amendments to the Ontario Water Resources Act in December 2019 that removed the need for these facilities to have a Permit to Take Water.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is extending the 2004 Shebandowan Lake Management Plan, by three (3) years. The new expiration date for this plan will be July 1, 2027.
We invite you to review and comment on the proposed long-term management direction for the 10-year Forest Management Plan (2023-2033) and review and comment on the proposed 2-year Contingency Plan (2021-2023) for the Armstrong Forest.

Authorization from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is required to use or occupy any land in provincial parks and conservation reserves.
