The Province of Ontario has passed Bill 60, which introduces the Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, 2025, amending the Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act. The amendments support the implementation of harmonized road standards, including for municipal road construction.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) sought feedback on ideas to address the unique housing needs for rural and northern Ontario municipalities. MMAH incorporated this feedback into the development of a province-wide land use planning document. MMAH has issued the Provincial Planning Statement, taking effect on October 20, 2024.
We have approved amendments to the Trent Source Protection Plan including the Trent Assessment Report. These amendments involve updating the vulnerable area mapping for a new well for the City of Kawartha Lakes’ King’s Bay drinking water system.

We have amended the Renewable Energy Approvals regulation to add eligibility requirements related to electricity demand. The amendments also prohibit a renewable energy approval from being issued for large wind projects if their power purchase agreements were cancelled by the Independent Electricity System Operator.
On September 13, 2024, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Minister's Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 358/24 in the Municipality of Clarington. The Municipality requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.
The minister approved amendments to the Grand River Source Protection Plan, including the Grand River Assessment Report, to keep the plan up-to-date and accurate, including to re-align the Plan with the Technical Rules under the Clean Water Act, 2006.
Certificate of Property Use No. 2583-DENG3D for 238 and 242 Cherry Street and parts of 39, 51, 63 and 75 Commissioners Street (River Park North), Toronto, Ontario was issued to City of Toronto, as part of their development plans for the site.
We issued an approval to GFL Environmental Inc. for the use and operation of a waste disposal site, located at 84 Smelter Road, to be used for the transfer and processing of solid non-hazardous waste including construction and demolition waste, mixed waste, and recyclables.
