The government has released A Place to Grow, which replaces the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. It introduces more flexibility to planning and greater local autonomy. It addresses barriers to building homes, creating jobs, attracting investments and putting in place the right infrastructure while protecting the environment.
The province is proposing to amend the Development Charges Act, 1997 to: repeal the five-year phase-in of development charges (DCs); reinstate studies as an eligible cost for DCs; reduce the timeframe for the DC freeze from two years to 18 months; and streamline the process for municipalities to extend existing DC by-laws.

Coco Properties Corporation has applied for a Class “A” licence (Category 2 - Quarry Below Water) to excavate aggregate from a quarry 73.8 hectares in size. This application is for the establishment of a new quarry. The annual tonnage condition applied for is 1,000,000 tonnes.

The province is proposing new legislation that, if passed, would require the expansion of crucial wastewater treatment services for York Region and the construction of a phosphorus reduction facility to remove phosphorus from drainage water that flows into Lake Simcoe. The ministry is seeking comments on the proposed legislation.
We are moving forward with regulatory changes to allow the ministry and drinking water systems to act quickly to help ensure that drinking water in Ontario is protected during an emergency, including by providing systems with temporary staffing options, and operators with temporary relief from training and certification requirements.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 (ESA) to Richcraft Homes Ltd. for construction activities that may impact Blanding’s Turtle, Butternut and their habitat. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects and requires monitoring and reporting.
Amendments have been made to regulations under the Invasive Species Act, 2015, to prevent the introduction and spread of 13 invasive species and through the overland movement of watercraft.
