Removing the requirement for wind studies in Bill 17, specifically "Wind: information and material related to the potential impacts of a proposed development on wind conditions in surrounding areas." may place pedestrians in uncomfortable and dangerous situations. The current requirements in place for most municipalities are essentially consistent and should be adopted for all high-rise developments in the province. Removing the requirement for wind studies on buildings over 12-storeys is very shortsighted. The long term effects have the potential to make cities undesirable areas for pedestrians.
