I strongly oppose the taking of water from the Saugeen and Styx Rivers in Ontario for the purposes of the aggregate industry, using our rivers as a 'wash basin'. The proposed water taking qualifies as a Category 3 permit meaning: water takings are anticipated to have the highest potential of causing unacceptable environmental impactor interference. This means the water in these rivers would be polluted to an unacceptable level for humans and river inhabitants alike. We need CLEAN water to survive as a species ourselves, so please don't degrade our waterways in Ontario unnecessarily -- we already have more than enough gravel pits! Please stop the expansion of this unhealthy industry into places where people are trying to raise families! Your aggregate pits are causing poor air and water quality wherever they are allowed, leading to increased incidences of asthma and other respiratory illnesses. People who are immuno-compromised in any way also suffer from pollution caused by this kind of extraction activity.
Ontario needs to act smarter and protect people better - the taxpayers who pay our government salaries deserve better than this! The politician's job is to protect the public from harm - from industries just like this one. PLEASE DO YOUR JOB AND RESPECT YOUR ELECTORATE!
NO WATER TAKING PERMITS FROM THE SAUGEEN OR STYX RIVERS SHOULD BE ALLOWED!! The global climate emergency also complicates this issue as temperatures rise and weather events become more intense -- don't we already have enough to contend with Premier Ford??? Keep our water sources CLEAN PLEASE!! NO WATER TAKING - IT WILL HARM OUR WATERWAYS. THINK HARDER, BE SMARTER!
