I am extremely concerned about this application, for the following reasons.
First, the community has not had adequate notice to respond. The company is using a loophole of expanding an existing permit to avoid true public consultation.
Second, the proposal is for an enormous amount of water. The average Ontarion uses 187 Litres of water per day. For the Town of Hanover, which is the location of this Aggregate site, using this average, the entire town uses 1,234,200 L per day. At 7,920,000, this proposal uses almost 6.5 times that of the town where it is!!
Third, there is a high concern for pollution and aquifer depletion with proposals like this one. Again, there needs to be a period where the public is not only permitted to comment, but actively made aware of the proposal, with full details.
Fourth, the proposal itself is deemed to have the highest possible impact on the environment, according to the three possible levels.
Please deny this proposal, in absence of adequate public consultation and adequate evidence of there only being minimal negative effect on the environment.
