I vehemently oppose these changes for two main reasons.
First, the proposed change to employment policy is problematic. There are already few employment zones outside of Toronto. The GTHA outside Toronto is largely residential, and allowing the conversion of already scarce employment lands to more residential is going to result in an increase of people commuting to Toronto.
Second, the lower density targets and relaxation of rules around sprawl will negatively impact traffic congestion and commute times. Our roads and highways in the GTA are at capacity during peak hours as it is. From some of the newer developments, it takes over an hour to get to Toronto. Allowing development even further out is going to result in more people driving and more people driving further.
