One important aspect pertaining the world wide incorporation of e-bikes in Ontario and Canada is that Canada and Ontario is a very small market compared to the USA and other Countries. Some of the requirements are unrealistic. First off one of the requirements is a e-bike sticker of plaque under the seat, the reality of this is that will a e-bike manufacturer even bother with this. Also following the USA standard witch allows for a max power of 750 watts should be adopted as the max speed will still be 32KMH and the reality is that a 500 watt rating is not necessary 500 watts and is based on the electric power delivered to the motor so to say a max power is not really limited by the motor but rather the power pushed though it.
Also higher speed e-bikes might be safe but may require motor cycle like tires and bike brake requirements that meet safety requirements based on bike weight. This could possibly allow for safe operation of an e-bike at 40KMh as a useful form of environmentally friendly form of transpiration. This would be greatly assist Canada's carbon reduction.
