To cancel the Cap and Trade program with no Climate Change plan or replacement presented is not sound governing nor transparent. What is the Ontario Government”s climate change plan?
Quite possibly, we the people will have to pay $3Billion in compensation to companies who have already bought CO2 allowances under the Cap and Trade terms.
If, as stated by this government, you propose to fight the federal government on imposing a “carbon tax” on Ontario, then that will cost the Ontario tax payers another $30 million to fight this in the courts- and lose.
The Cap and Trade program is flawed- it does not reduce gas emissions substantially and business may just leave and go elsewhere where laws are more lenient- but dismantling the program before 2020 will have far-reaching costs.
We all need to reduce our CO2 footprint and pay the price for the excessive lifestyle we live.
What is the Ontario Government’s plan on Climate change?
There is a saying “measure twice- cut once”. In other words, make a sound plan first before you decide on a course of action.
