Peatlands are vital and sensitive habitats that are not renewable, and they are extremely rare in Southern Ontario. Much of the Alfred Bog has already been lost to peat mining. Designating it a provincial park would be an important step in ensuring this important land is preserved.
And while you're at it, do the same to Mer Bleue in Ottawa. The NCC does not take good care of it.
