Establishing a non-operating provincial park in the Alfred bog is an essential step to safeguarding this site for future generations. They will be able to enjoy the Alfred bog directly, through hiking and other outdoor recreational activities. However, the indirect effects of classifying the Alfred bog as a non-operating provincial park will surely endow future generations with the greatest benefits, which include, but are not limited to: providing a secure carbon store, creating a natural buffer that mitigate the effects of climate change on the surrounding areas, maintaining the biodiversity of the local flora and fauna due to providing a stable local environment.
