Firstly, I sincerely hope that this government recognizes the fact that global warming and climate change are real. The effect of global warming on climate and ultimately on human lives can be devastating. We must act expeditiously before it becomes irreversible and too late to act. We must understand that human survivability depends on our actions now and immediate, not in some distant future.

Secondly, green energy industries require government’s incentive to survive and thrive. This is what the world is heading. We, in Ontario must follow that trend to sustain or to lead in those industries. Otherwise, we will be left behind as other jurisdictions are establishing themselves as leaders of the industries. Again, government policies can go a long way to help the establishment of these industries. We have a great opportunity now, why do we want to squander it?

Thirdly, in all due respect, cancelling the cap and trade system without something better in place is absolutely unreasonable. On top of that, why are we spending hard earned tax payers’ money to “fight” Ottawa’s carbon tax? All we have to do is to put in place a carbon reduction policy and Ottawa’s carbon tax will have no effect on Ontario. This is the most effective way to “fight” Ottawa, unless of course this government has no plan to put any carbon reduction plan in place.
