To whom it may concern,

I am a person in their 20s, who makes a higher-end income for my age, and cannot afford housing.

This proposal to expand into the Greenbelt is inefficient.
Simply building more houses will not solve the housing affordability problem. Building suburbs after suburbs will just make commuting to work longer with more traffic.

Look at European countries as an example. In both of these scenarios they're landlocked-in with no expansion option, however people are still able to afford to live. They are able to do this by constructing denser housing with liveable apartments. By "liveable" I mean apartments with comfortably-sized living spaces, not shoebox apartments as seen in downtown Toronto. This allows people to experience comfort while in a denser housing environment (apartment buildings), and therefore do not need to buy an entire house to achieve comfort.

Denser housing combined with improved public transportation infrastructure would greatly improve the lives of Ontarians. With denser housing, improved and frequent public transportation is easier to achieve (again, look at Europe). Ontario is very car-centric, allowing Ontarians the option of reliable/frequent public transit will save us all money.

My suggestion: politicians are not scientists. Recruit qualified policy analysts and urban planners to build a better GTA.
