I am deeply concerned about the undemocratic Bill 23, the opening up of the Greenbelt, and irrevocable loss of land to development. Bill 23 is only in the best interest of a handful of developers who stand to make a profit. The bill does nothing to create affordable housing and reduce the costs of housing or aid in the homelessness crisis. It will deeply impact the economies of municipalities in Ontario, and will cause budget shortfalls and the raising of taxes.

My main concerns:
1. Strips conservation authority powers to protect Ontarians from floods, and provide input into the planning process and watershed planning.
2. The removal of protections from wetlands and the wildlife who live on the land. This bill will have a devastating effect on wetlands which are incredibly important in preventing floods and combating climate change.
3. The removal of municipal green building standards.
4. The loss of farmlands that feed Ontarians and contribute to the economy.

Once this land is gone, we cannot get it back. This is an incredibly short-sighted and damaging bill that should not move forward.
