The greenbelt is a fiasco that should never have been created. A rapidly growing city like Toronto cannot be hemmed in artificially. It has resulted in leapfrogging, into Simcoe county as an example, exacerbating urban sprawl. Aside from abolishing it, adjustments should be by regulation only, it is not such an important measure that requires a legislative process. Should the greenbelt remain, it should be composed of environmentally protected lands only.
Also, the lake Ontario shoreline east of Newcastle should be left out of the greenbelt. There is plenty of lake Ontario shoreline parkland that precludes any need to remove yet more shoreline from worthwhile development potential.
